The counselling services provided to child abuse victims and their families at the Children's Treatment Centre are made possible through donations and continuous fundraising. This year the Centre is facing an unprecedented challenge of being unable to hold the majority of its fundraising events, its main source of revenue. However, we are happy to say that we are going ahead with our major fundraiser, the Celebrity Walk & Breakfast, albeit in a different format!
A Drive-thru Breakfast sponsored by Best Western will be held on Friday, October 16, 2020 from 6:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Present the enclosed ticket and receive a free, hot breakfast sandwich and coffee to start your day.
Additionally, instead of a live presentation, beginning on September 22, at 9:00 a.m. and then again at 9:00 p.m., YourTV will be rebroadcasting the inspirational, courageous addresses presented at our past events. Check YourTV listings for other airings.
To participate, I invite you to join my "Celebrity" team and make a personal, tax deductible donation of $100.00. Alternatively, you may obtain pledges from your colleagues, family, friends or neighbours to make up the $100.00 request. Every donation, no matter how small, is valuable! To recognize your Celebrity status, your name and photo will appear in a major print campaign in by the Standard-Freeholder.
Since 1996, the Centre's Clinical Team has provided high-quality counselling services to 2782 children from 2404 families, not receiving a single service complaint from children or parents in 24 years. At the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Centre made the difficult decision to close its doors. After six weeks, telephone counselling resumed. Then, on June 8th, with safety measures in place, face-to-face counselling began again. A second full-time counsellor was hired, enabling the waiting list to be reduced from 58 to 21 children.
The need for the Centre's services is greater today than ever before. I hope that you will accept this invitation to become a Celebrity to help ensure the Centre's ongoing ability to provide hope and healing to children who seek its help.
We sincerely thank you for your caring spirit.
